Two interesting values can be observed in the work of Alessio Guarino; they were inspired by the exoteric gyre spiral system developed by W.B. Yeats, summarized in The Stone and The Face. In the images immortalized by Alessio Guarino dedicated to architecture and the city, it is not the buildings, the houses, the factories or items depicted that make my heart miss a beat but the definition of the expressions, the presence of the living throughout the space, the hand and the face that emerge from the everyday instruments and penetrate the physical vacuum, the fragility of the existence in the stability of stone and steel; the depth of voices that appear to travel from far in the distance; the effort required to tell the stories of the past, from the sedimentation of time to the lines carved into the faces, like the weathering in the stone walls of the temple.”

Nel lavoro di Alessio Guarino trovo due valori interessanti che, ispirandomi alle Spirali di W.B. Yeats, sintetizzo in la Pietra e il Volto. Nelle immagini di Alessio Guarino dedicate all’architettura e  alla città non sono gli edifici, le case, le fabbriche o gli oggetti  a colpire il mio cuore, ma le architetture dello sguardo, la presenza del vivente nel vuoto degli spazi, la mano e il volto che nell’assenza fisica emergono dagli strumenti quotidiani, la fragilità dell’esistenza nella fissità della pietra, dell’acciaio, del cemento. Nelle sue immagini e nei suoi filmati dedicati alle persone sono attratto al contrario dal tremolio degli occhi, dalla profondità delle voci che sembrano arrivare da lontano, dallo sforzo di raccontare la memoria, dalla sedimentazione del tempo scolpita nei volti così come sulla pietra del tempio.
